Review: Snowflake by Nia Forrester
If you haven’t read Snowflake, then just read our review. The episode below does contain SPOILERS.
Running away from his feelings is the one race he’ll never win …
A star athlete and Olympic prospect, Kal Carter is bound for greatness. Everyone says it, only he’s not sure he entirely believes it. Because he’s lost something he can’t replace, and most days feels like he’s holding up the sky; and doing it all on his own.
To maintain focus, he never lets anyone close except in the most superficial ways and he’s become very good at it. Until a long, cold week when the solitary girl next-door who never speaks, smiles or makes eye-contact barges into his life and seems poised to upend the whole doggone thing.

Renee’s Review
What a trip? I love how Nia developed these characters throughout this book. In the beginning, you get a feel of what type of people Asha and Kaleem are and by the end, you realized they were deeper than that.
These characters were extremely affected by their childhoods, as we all are, but to see the whys gradually unfold was well worth every minute with this book.
Asha and Kaleem are very young and are figuring things out for themselves. Somehow, these very different young adults manage to become friends.
I loved the other characters as well because they were the realistic variety of college students that we may all have met before. The Chantals and the Dueces and Zoras are very much part of most college experiences.
The depth of the main characters lives, drama, emotions (even when attempted to hide them) were well put together. You will be 100% invested in seeing how it all ends for the soon-to-be college graduates.
This is my first time reading a Nia Forrester work and all I can say now is that she has a fan in me!
Telicia’s Review
I really LOVED Snowflake! I was rooting for the neighbors from the beginning. Beautiful story, I saw myself in the main character. Having a crappy mom but didn’t let that dictate her future by being so angry like some people are. 5 stars beautiful realistic story.
Bridgette’s Review (Spoilers)
What did I think? I loved it! Who knew the little nobody across the way would turn out to be the love of Kaleem’s life 🙂 Kal was my fav. He started out as a pig but as days went by he showed me the meaning behind his doggish ways; He saw no commitment, no future, no care for those girls. Oh but honey when Asha came on the scene he couldn’t help but change his ways.
I would have never guessed that Asha dated her teacher and that he was white 😮 I can see her wanting to be with someone who gave her praise and attention since she wasn’t used to it, I guess lol. Ms. Nia Forrester, you did well.
