Review: Tale of Two Cities: A Christmas Novella by Alexandra Warren

A story that gave you just what you wanted! I always love it when we as readers get to know characters what think about each other, but we painfully watch them fight against being honest about it.

This one was one those stories where two people were attracted to one another but said nothing directly. There were some embarrassing outbursts for sure. However, the characters played a little hard to get or read.

I loved how the author built up the suspense so to speak. You never know if people will go after what they want to cower in fear of rejection. Either of those things could happen and if was fun to read the characters struggle with their attraction to one another.

This book was another one that put emphasis on successful black people. Although it was a short story, it still felt good to read about the positive side of us. Dallas was a well-known director and Maddison was a young assistant working to get to Dallas’ status one day. Her hard work and dedication to a career that she wanted badly showed how anyone can follow their dreams and actually make it. Just gotta do the work.

It was a positive view of working people that put all their energy in building a career to be proud of, but they also wanted success in their love lives even though time wouldn’t allow it. With so much in common, Dallas and Madison made it exciting to see if they could come together in the end.
