May’s Book of the Month: My Heart is Your Secret by Chelsea Maria

Below is Episode 16 and it’s full of spoilers. If you haven’t read My Heart is Your Secret, skip down to our reviews.

I can’t breathe.
And I don’t want to breathe.
I don’t want to breathe my air.
I’d rather embed our veins together so his oxygen can flow into me.
I’d rather us be one…

Keatyn had no idea how much I needed her. With each passing day that went by without touching her… kissing her… I became more ill.

Atlas fell in love with me when he thought it was impossible… I fell in love with him knowing it was guaranteed.

I wanted Keatyn to be so in love with me that I became a second pair of skin to her. So engraved in her that she was unable to breathe unless I exhaled first… But I had secrets. And she had silent insecurities. With everything combined, we were a disaster waiting to explode…

Renée’s Review

Keatyn Fletcher was a character that I admired because she had her head on straight and knew what she wanted in life. A true woman of God yet embraced her flaws. She was a woman a extreme self-love, which is truly an inspiration. In the story, you rooted for her to find the man God created just for her. Almost like a reward for her patience and her trust in God.

Aaron got on my nerves because he seemed like such a great guy. Business booming, seemingly good family relationships (blood and not), and knowing what he wanted for himself. The thing I hated was his relationship with Michelle (his girlfriend). It was like, you wanted him to have a good woman and knew the one he chose was not it, but he was too dag on blind to see it. Even though he had eyes everywhere, he missed it.

Atlas Kalmin was a dream. He was literally the perfect guy in the beginning. I mean PERFECT! Even I was in love. Then those antennas go up. Like, wait, he’s a little too freaking perfect. Always had the right response, always at the right place at the right time. Mmm-hmm. But you still wanted him to be real. And he was (in a way).

I loved and hated this story. Not because of the writing or anything. Only because I didn’t know what was going on for too long. I had an idea, but I couldn’t settle until I was proven wrong or right. It was like being at the edge of your seat but not getting what you want when you want it. And then BAM! Lol.

I went in not knowing what to expect. It felt super long, but we needed it to play out fully. I was happy in the end but glad that my feelings didn’t have to get strung along any longer.

The spiritual journey of these characters was a major plus for me. Fasting and praying in regards to love and relationships is so necessary, and not enough people do it, including myself. I think I enjoyed that element the most. Both characters were so in tune with learning what God wanted them to do rather than jumping blindly.

I would suggest this book for the feeling of suspense. It was a roller coaster in more ways than one. I kept putting it down out of frustration but obviously picked it back up because I needed to know what happened next.
