2020 Recap for SB3TZ
2020 has been an interestingly difficult year for a lot of us and some of us have thrived. The one thing the three of us could count on was coming together each month to discuss the Book of the Month. In the midst of everything, we kept on reading and looked forward to sharing our thoughts with you. We’re excited to give our take on where the BoMs of 2020 fit in for us. We love reading and retelling the story because it just feels good. Reading and talking about what you read with people who get it is EVERYTHING. Even when we disagree😂
Here’s a list of what we read for the year 2020.
Just Wanna Mean the Most to You by Grey Huffington
The Cost of Loving You by Renée A. Moses
My Heart is Your Secret by Chelsea Maria
I Thought I Knew You by Renée A. Moses
Marry Me Twice by Monica Walters
Getting Even by Danesha Little
Bless Your Heart by Ashley Nicole
Impulsive Emotion by Aubree Pynn
Never Stopped Loving You by Renée A. Moses

Favorite Overall
I kinda had a tie but I’ll be good and pick one🙄😂
Getting Even by Danesha Little
The story was really good because the author allowed us to see the reality of the confusion of infidelity in a marriage. I didn’t know who it would end but I can say that I was satisfied with all of it. It was A LOT but it was really good. So, yeah, my fave from our 2020 list.
Biggest Shocker
Definitely My Heart is Your Secret by Chelsea Maria
Okay so this one was soooo good but frustrating but it took so long to answer one question lingering in my head. I made an assumption and wanted so badly for it to be proven true. And when the truth came out, I was on the floor😂This book had me throwing it too many times and walking away. It’s that good. This was my other favorite read for 2020.
Most Heartbreaking
Share My World by D. Rose
I chose this book for heartbreaking because of the similar losses the two main characters experienced. It brought them closer and I liked how it worked out in the end.
Sexiest
Hands down, Marry Me Twice by Monica Walters
That thang was nasteeee!!! Sometimes authors get so wrapped up in making the story sexy that they miss the mark to actually tell a story. This was to the case in the slightest. I enjoyed everything about this book and if you like a lot of spice with a good story, then this is for you.
Sweetest
Bless Your Heart by Ashley Nicole
I say this is the sweetest only for the way Charadee (you better say her name right 😂) and Keegan fell for each other. He showed her around this small town she moved to, making her do things she usually wouldn’t. Charadee was a great character and read a person respectfully. Loved her.
Funniest
Impulsive Emotion by Aubree Pynn
Dre was an absolute fool and as much as I hated his arrogance at times, he had me cracking up.
Most Unique (storyline)
My Heart is Your Secret by Chelsea
This story had me on edge. It was so much going on and I’d never read a book like it. I’ve read some really amazing stories but the twists had me.
Most Different (from you expected)
Getting Even by Danesha Little
Okay so this one took me on a journey. The ups and downs of a marriage after major hits seems like a simple tell. However, the way Danesha presented this couple’s struggle to make a decision was real. People think it’s so simple but it really isn’t when you really love someone. I can see this story helping struggling couples see themselves and figuring out what’s best for their relationship.
Favorite Hero
Atlas Kalmin from My Heart is Your Secret by Chelsea Maria
He was perfection to me. The way he loved. His confidence. His spirituality. Atlas was layered well and it had me wanting my own copy of this man😍
Favorite Heroine
Noelle Harris from Never Stopped Loving You by Renée A. Moses.
Yes, it’s my book but I love her so much. She knows what she wants but is so stubborn that it makes me love her even more. That girl will look you dead in your face and say what she feels. She’s fun will make a negro sweat it out if they wronged her.
