A Preto Village novel Welcome to Preto Village, a beautiful black community where everybody knows your business and has no qualms about sharing it… For Charadee, life up north had long become stale and stagnant. It was time for change and adventure. Buying a house in the tiny town of Preto seemed the thing to do. Change and adventure weren’t supposed to include a man, though. Enter Dr. Keegan Francois… He’s Preto’s most eligible bachelor. Born and raised in the town, there are certain expectations on his shoulders that an outsider won’t fit in to. Will he conform to the expectations, or learn to live for his own desires?

Renée’s Review

First off, the title of this book is hilarious. I understood what it meant but wondered how it pertained to the story as I read it. Then it came up, and I loved it.

Charadee Tate was my hero because that woman didn’t let a thing bother her. Not one bit. Not until it affected something that mattered to her heart. She was someone who knew what she wanted and went for it. Charadee didn’t allow anyone else’s opinion to rock her own. I loved that about her.

Dr. Keegan Francois (a long-lasting eye roll) was a’ight lol. He did seem to be a great catch, and usually, in small towns, those who grew up there thought they had first dibs. Not! He was easily affected by a lot of the noise around him, even though he claimed he wasn’t. For the most part, he was a dream. Good head on his shoulders and stood his ground when needed. Then when the pressure became too much…

Charadee and Keegan were good together, even if others didn’t feel the same way. He worried so much about the outsiders, while Charadee kept it cool, calm, and collected in every way possible. It’s a lesson that a relationship is only between the two people in it. Nothing else should matter, especially if no kids are in the picture.

I enjoyed reading this story. It held my interest throughout with all the townspeople. They were crazy and too blunt for my blood. Mr. O, though? He was my favorite besides the main characters. The older folks always know what to say when their heart is in the right place. Good read.

Bridgette’s Review

I really enjoyed this story. It had just enough spice to keep me going.

My fav definitely is Mr. Ollie. He did not come to play hunty!

I’m not sure if I would have been so, how can I say, quick to move on like Ms. Charadee, but all in all this was a very good read. Kept me guessing.
