February’s Book of the Month: Maybe Next Time by Christina C. Jones

Below is Episode 25, and it’s full of spoilers. If you haven’t read Maybe Next Time, skip down to our reviews.

For better or worse…
That was the promise Denver and Kensa made, but it’s a sentiment they’ve somehow lost along the way. What started as a passionate wildfire has diminished to a flicker, all but snuffed out by unspoken fears, perceived betrayal, and a complete breakdown in communication.
Can either of them tuck their ego away long enough to rekindle their flame?

Renée’s Review

Okay, so, most of the time, you can become skeptical when you see a book that’s less than one hundred pages. But this is CCJ we’re reading, so we knew it’d be good. She had declared that writing about married couples was not her thing, but this time around, she did it, and we have to say she was absolutely wrong! It’s her thing. I mean, I saw myself and my marriage all up in Kensa and Denver. The good and bad.

Kensa played games because she didn’t know how else to reach her husband about the real issue. Feeling heard or having a safe environment to unload her true issue was the culprit to her acting out. I’ve been there. It may be better ways to get the point across, but she did what she thought she had to.

Denver loved, loved, loved his wife. I was so glad he had his cousin, Kingston, to put things into perspective before he could respond to his wife’s cry for attention the wrong way. I was in my feelings and I felt the pain of how they got so far away from each other all because they didn’t communicate properly from the jump. If that ain’t a top issue with a real married couple, I don’t know what is.

It was short and to the point and I loved every second of it!
