Bridgette's Reviews

Bridgette’s Year in Review (2022) with SB3TZ

We’ve read 12 books together, and from those 12, here’s how I see them.

The Sweetest: Love Scammed by Rizly Adams

How this one began gives nothing to how it ended. Monae and Hudson just went with the flow of the vacation, and everything being paid for didn’t hurt, lol. They had nothing to lose but their singleness, honey. It was so filling.

The Steamiest: Free Game by Kema B.

Let me start by saying the reason I chose this one for the steamiest is because where have you heard of someone you are attracted to whispering in your ear and you just cum all over yourself from his words alone! Oh My! Isis was really playing hard to get, and I guess Free had to shut her down… lol

The “now that’s new” (Most Unique): Capturing The Soul of A Boss by Tatum James

What was new for me in this story was that BOTH Brielle and Tosh ended up being married!!!! Yes, yes, I now know the reasons behind it but still, ridiculous. The book itself was weird anyway cause how yall meeting on a dating app cant even.

The “I didn’t see that coming” (most surprising): Hell Of A Blessing by Mel Dau

What surprised me about this book was how the author Mel Dau put herself out there for us to see! She shared a part of her life that she did not have to so that we could really see that this could happen to any of us. If one person was encouraged or helped by her personalizing her story, then this book was worth it.

The “That sounded just like me” (reminded me of me): I Want It All With You by Renée A. Moses

I know this title is listed twice, can’t help it. Nina was me! She did not waiver on her decision to not get back with her ex. What he did was unforgivable to me. Well, let me not say unforgivable, but I just couldn’t get over what he did. Nina sounds like me because she was determined to live her dreams and support her kids, and she did just that.

Favorite Heroine of all the books we read: Back to Us by Honesty Price

My favorite was Whitney. Let me say I think she should have told Malcolm when she started getting gigs and blowing up. I understood why she did not. He was too focused on his own career to be supportive of hers. I loved when she finally told him the truth and how his whole family was in the band lol.

Favorite Hero of all the books we read: The Garden of Eden by Millie Belizaire

Andrew Lavigne was so thoughtful, caring, and selfless. Toward the end, I liked how he stood for what was right and told the truth about what was going on behind closed doors with the church missions ministry. The relationship he had with his little sister was so heartfelt. I was just too through when she almost died.

Favorite Book Overall: I Want It All With You by Renée A. Moses

I loved that it didn’t have the ending that is most popular, I don’t think. I was hoping that the writer chose this path for Nina. I’m glad she continued to see what her worth was and not just sticking it out for the kids or just because they had been together that long. The relationship between Nina and Victor before they got together was awesome; him being so supportive and encouraging. It was nice to see them together, together lol.
