Book of the Month 2022

September’s Book of the Month: The Garden of Eden by Millie Belizaire

Below is Episode 44, and it’s full of spoilers. If you haven’t read The Garden of Eden, skip down to our reviews.

Eden is an R&B superstar who has lost her passion for music. Andrew is a pastor who doesn’t believe in God. Although for different reasons, both of them move through life with an enormous amount of pressure on their backs.

On the night of her concert in New Orleans, Eden sneaks out of an afterparty and mistakes Andrew’s car for her ride home. Despite the fact that Eden claims she’s famous, Andrew’s never heard of her and he doesn’t care that she’s stranded.

Eden’s not used to people saying no to her. And that’s exactly what Andrew does, marking the beginning of a journey neither of them saw coming.

Andrew and Eden are unlike each other in many ways, but both are dealing with their own demons. Just as their issues threaten to crumble them both, they find each other.

This is a standalone.

Telicia’s Review

Eden is my girl. I understand her so much. Doing something you once loved because of so many people depending on you. Every chapter of Drew made me hate his dad even more. I just feel like if you love the church so much, don’t have a family. Marry the church 😒. Then what happened to Kathleen breaks my heart and the heartlessness of his dad. Nothing tops my boy Drew losing his faith because of what happened to his mom, but gaining it back after getting his sister back w/ a miracle. The journey of Eden & Drew gave me so many strong emotions. Strong hate, love, sadness, happiness, it was a great book.

Bridgette’s Review

5 Stars

I really did enjoy every minute! I believe this is the first time I agree that these two were meant to be. Andrew and Eden’s connection was so… easy, if I can say that. I can’t even explain lol. I loved the slow torturous burn for over half of the story. I was hoping that Nayeli ended up kicked outside the family! She was just too jealous for her own good. My star is Olivia. Her faith and trust in the Lord was so touching. I loved how just the remembrance of Olivia’s love and respect for the Lord helped Andrew find his way back. Kudos on capturing ALL of my sense

Renée’s Review

You didn’t have to do me like that! Lol. Oliviaaa 😭 This story did everything I needed it to do. Eden and Drew had me all over the place, and I loved every second. Those kissing sessions🤭😘 I thoroughly enjoyed this love story even though I think somebody should be behind bars🤣😂

The pull between Eden and Drew was everything. Millie wrote those two to perfection because they both had traumatic experiences coming up that made things a little difficult to love and be loved. Parents can make or break you sometimes, but it becomes your responsibility to break free from whatever hold they placed on you. Drew losing his mom and dealing with a dad that was nothing of a godly man but pushing God like a product to make him money; then you have Eden, who had a mom that made her feel less than because of her looks. It could have kept them from finding love, but they were able to be what the other needed to focus on the future instead of letting the past keep them in place.

The surprises were something else. I’m still mad about Olivia, but I’ma let it go lol. I was happy with the build-up and the end game. I really enjoyed this story.
