October’s Book of the Month: Only For The Week by Natasha Bishop

Below is Episode 57 and our reviews. It’s full of spoilers.

You are cordially invited to the wedding of Amerie Cross and Arnold Hightower.

And now a toast from the maid of honor, Janelle Cross!

Hi everyone, thank you for being here.

Some of you may know me as the sister of the bride.

Some of you may know me as the ex-girlfriend of the groom.

But I’m willing to bet none of you know me as the woman secretly sleeping with the best man.

I am.

I know, I’m just as surprised as you.

It was only supposed to be for the week; but every kiss, adventure, and stolen moment with Rome Martin feels like it could last forever.

Oh well. What happens in Tulum stays in Tulum.

Right?

Telicia’s Review

Rome and Janelle’s relationship is 5 stars 😍. Janelle’s mama, sister, & part-time daddy though 😤 ZERO stars. They made me so mad with the way they treated or allowed my girl Janelle to be treated. I related so much to her with the way she was treated and just allowed it to happen, just based on who the person was. It made me so happy at the end when she finally chose herself. 🥹❤️ Oh & Rome is the absolutely PERFECT guy, & Janelle deserves it 😍

Renée’s Review

Maannnn! Where is this man at? We all deserve a Romey Rome in our lives. He kept me glued to this book. The way he connected with Janelle and was so sure about what he wanted with her gave me hope.

I could’ve done without Amerie and her antics. She needed to be popped in the face on several occasions, but luckily, Janelle had more restraint than most human beings. Why was her sister so trash? I get that she had stuff going on, but it does not justify her actions when she was sooooo in the wrong in my eyes. The whole marrying your sister’s ex thing crossed a line that made me not even care about her woes. Especially since she treated Janelle like crap due to her own insecurities.

Janelle also had to deal with similar stupidity from her mother! I was done when they finally talked. Man, this book had me heated. My favorite aspect was the peace Janelle had with Rome the entire time. There wasn’t any real confusion with their budding relationship, just denial on her part. All of the issues stemmed from her family. Luckily, Rome helped her make some hard decisions once she opened her eyes to the power she possessed to love herself enough to cut ties. Ain’t nobody got time for the mess she endured for family’s sake. *what did Terri say in Soul Food? Yeah, that part. 🤣🤣
